Teachers make children learn in many ways. One of them is to make them consider their own thoughts about important topics such as, “What qualities does it take to succeed in life?” For 11 year old Ian Gurholt it’s grit. He says, “What is the word for perseverance or when you are determined to do something? The word is called ‘grit’.” Listen to this 11-year-old boy describe what “grit” is. I love that he made a video to share his message, and am excited that I get to share it with you!

There are so many Begin with Yes themes in this video, and that’s why it’s so great. We all have grit in us. It is the fuel that allows us to take those steps towards our goals, even when we may not feel like we are really moving forward at all. Dig deep inside and find your grit. Then take that next step to meet your goal, and then the next one.

When you find your grit, each step gets a bit easier. The first time you push through a difficult step – even though excuses for not taking it are all around you – you’ve found your grit. I guarantee that after just a few steps forward you’ll feel inspired and proud of how far you’ve come!
