I am always promoting the idea that helping others is the best way to help yourself, but sometimes I am still amazed at the lengths people will go to, and this story is one of those times.
An elderly man was replacing the roof on his home and had already spent three months on the project when a friendly neighbor decided to offer his help. But the neighbor didn’t just offer his help, he took to social media and a group of 20+ people showed up, free of charge, to complete the job in just three hours. Some of the helpers drove well over an hour to offer their assistance, and it brought a group of strangers together in a way that only a job like this could. Talk about a selfless act!
It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our own lives and not pay attention to simple things we can do to make our communities better places. This is proof positive that if you give others an opportunity to help, many will! Sometimes we all just need a little push in the right direction to get moving, and that’s okay as long as we are moving forward!
